From the Car Dude:

Planning this trip I knew we would be doing a lot of driving. Having visited Rome a few years back I knew driving would be rough. It is!  This is my biggest driving challenge ever.

We are driving a Ford C-Max which is considered large over here. It's a little larger than a ford escort.  Most of the cars here are small. In order of market share cars here are Fiats, VWs, Mercedes, Fords, and a few toyotas, Chevys, and hundias. No Hondas or Nissans. I'm surprised at the lack of Japanese cars.

Filled the gas tank yesterday. Fuel here runs about $9/gallon so it takes $120 to fill a small tank. To fill my a Ford truck back home it would take almost $250.

We have been traveling with the Scott's for decades now. Many years ago they nicknamed me "CAR GOD" not for my driving talent but for my great sense of direction. It does me no good here. Roads here are 4000 years old. They don't make sense. In some places You really can't get there from here.  I guess I'm just a Car Dude now.

My first day was rough and they were honking at me. I caught on and started driving with courage. You need to just plow ahead. If you slow or hesitate in a traffic circle it messes up traffic. Now I find it fun. I'm honking at others. I'm probably honking at some poor American tourist driving on his first day.

You might have seen on the blog I ended up in a ditch. I was backing up on a single lane gravel mountain road to let another car buy and bottomed out. Two wheels were in the ditch. I solved this by cramming large rocks under them and rocked the car back onto the road. No damage to the car.
