Response to the Car Dude

It's true. Gary's first few hours here were rough driving. It's not easy reading a foreign language, calculating the definition of each street sign while shifting a new vehicle, listening to 3 back-seat drivers AND negotiating some of the roughest terraine we've been on! 

And as far as that whole getting stuck in the ditch insident: Gary had backed up for one vehicle coming down the steep-graded gravel road when another followed a few seconds later. We were on a sharp curve (remember we're on gravel) and he turns a hair too close to the edge. HE was the one to conceive the brilliant idea to pile rocks around the tire and jolt forward. Which worked!! 

The other guests at this villa have all gotten lost for hours before they found the gravel road that leads down to the house. One lady confessed it took her 8 hours extra! 

Gary has brought us to more than a half dozen towns/cities/communities/sites without taking more than 1 or 2 bad turns! He's incredible!! Joe is navigating and helping exorbinately but Gary is still our "Car God"! Now I'm not trying to be heretical (we don't worship, just admire him!) but I've yet to meet anyone that can drive like this! 

Thanks Bubba....the trip wouldn't be nearly as much fun without your talents!!
